The hiring company is dedicated to developing and maintaining the hotel comparison platform. The team focuses on building scalable, high-performance systems that enable users to search, compare, and book accommodations across a wide range of providers. Working with technologies like NGINX, SaltStack, Ansible, PHP-FPM, and MySQL, the department combines strong infrastructure and backend expertise to ensure a seamless and fast user experience.
Your tasks:
You will complement the existing team with your expertise as a DevOps Engineer and work hand in hand with company developers to scale the overall systems in a rapidly growing environment. In doing so, you will support the monitoring and analysis of company applications.
You will manage and configure the servers using centralized configuration with Saltstack and play a key role in further developing the DevOps area as well as implementing new process structures.
You will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and expanding servers across the entire hotel division, and you will implement backup and monitoring strategies as part of your daily tasks.
You will further develop the deployment processes (Continuous Integration) and take on the adaptation and creation of automations as well as automated system configurations (scripting).
Requirements
- Practical experience: Initial professional experience as a System Administrator in the Debian Linux environment and with deployment tools such as Saltstack, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Ideally, you’ve had some exposure to programming languages like Python or PHP.
- Tech stack: Strong knowledge of working with the shell and configuring NGINX, PHP-FPM, and MySQL (including replication, backup, etc.). Basic understanding of infrastructure areas such as networking and routing (firewall, VLAN, routing, and more).
- Digital mindset: Interest in learning Elasticsearch and Redis, along with enthusiasm and know-how regarding Docker-based deployment environments, is desirable.
- Drive and spirit: A strong sense of quality, hands-on mentality, enjoyment of development, excellent communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and a high level of commitment.
- Language skills: Fluent German (business-level) and good English skills.
