Position: Senior Data & AI Platform Engineer (f/m/d)

Location: Berlin, Germany (Hybrid – 2 days per week)

Start date: ASAP

Your mission in a nutshell: As a Senior Data & AI Platform Engineer at Humanoo, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the data and AI infrastructure that powers our digital health platform. Your work will ensure that our teams have reliable, high-quality, and timely data to drive insights, improve user experiences, and help millions of people live healthier lives. You will collaborate closely with Data, Product, and Engineering teams to develop robust data pipelines, optimise storage solutions, and support both batch and real-time data processing.

HOW YOU WILL SPEND YOUR TIME:
  • Manage and optimise our data stack Snowflake/Airflow for high-performance analytics and AI workloads.

  • Leverage AWS cloud services (e.g., S3, SageMaker, ECS, EMR, Glue) to build scalable and cost-efficient data & AI platforms.

  • Collaborate with AI Engineers, Product Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and Analysts to provision and optimise data environments for AI model training, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Ensure security, privacy, compliance, and scalability are embedded in all platform and pipeline designs.

  • Implement infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to manage platform resources.

  • Ensure data quality, coherence, and reliability across internal tools and user-facing products.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise data and AI workflows for performance and reliability.

  • Stay up to date with emerging tools and practices in data engineering, ML/AI Ops, and cloud architecture.

  • Bring your own ideas — we value curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • 3–5 years of professional experience as a Data Platform Engineer, MLOps Engineer, or similar.

  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, or Scala).

  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (or similar: BigQuery, Redshift, etc.) including query optimization and warehouse tuning.

  • Comfortable working with streaming frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).

  • Exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Skilled at crafting and optimising SQL queries, and implementing data schema and governance practices.

  • Experience with monitoring tools and ensuring data observability and reliability.

  • Solid AWS expertise across data, compute, and storage services.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and compliance in the cloud.

  • Demonstrated experience with MLOps platforms (e.g., SageMaker, MLflow, Kubeflow).

  • Bonus: experience with Airflow, data modelling, AIOps tooling and practices.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

After these interview stages are completed, our hiring team will convene for a debrief session to discuss your application. Following this debrief, our Talent Acquisition Partner will contact you to provide feedback and communicate the final decision regarding your candidacy. Please note: our offices close over the Christmas and New Year period for approximately two weeks. We gift the 24th and 31st December as extra vacation days and any additional non-public holiday days during this time will be taken from your annual leave.
