Our Data Science team in our Analytics office in Karlsruhe provides forecast models, interactive analytical tools and predictive scenarios to market professionals. We apply a wide range of advanced analytics techniques from economics, statistical to machine learning & AI, optimisation and agent-based models on internally and externally sourced expert reviewed data. We predict future developments of prices, supply, demand and trade flows for the commodity markets we cover. By integrating our market experts with our models as “humans-in-the-loop” we bring together the best of two worlds and achieve best results.

About the Role

Are you excited about data quality and looking to support and improve Data Science applications in production? As Data Operations Analyst for Data Science at ICIS, you will join our experienced Data Science team of 25 and enrich our operational capability to maintain scaled human-centric Data Science models and model interfaces. The purpose of your role is to support our Data Science team by providing high-quality data that is compliant to their requirements. Starting with data discovery and onboarding, you will make sure that the data is accurate, fits the conventions, and can be used in the analytics models. You will also monitor data quality and consistency across our databases.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure data quality, consistency and traceability across systems in daily data science operations
  • Monitor and address production data issues. Conduct root cause analysis, resolve and report data issues in collaboration with key stakeholders across teams
  • Collaborate with the central data quality hub and ensure data integrity and consistency by implementing data quality checks
  • Support the data engineering team in onboarding data. This includes data discovery, mappings, implementations, and maintenance of download and import processes
  • Understand data concepts. Suggest and implement data model changes if necessary
  • Support the commodity market analyst team in performing data analysis tasks
  • Perform accurate and thorough testing of data science models with relevant documentation

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience around data operations, data quality management, or data modelling
  • Strong experience working with relational databases and SQL
  • Proficient in Python, preferably experience with sqlalchemy, ORM and data quality tools (e.g. Soda)  
  • Fluent in English
  • Constructive and collaborative problem-solving communication
  • Quick comprehension of new problem domain fields with an analytical approach
  • Adept at both big-picture and detail-oriented thinking
